Cool Pictures

Parents,
You should have received a special package from our photography partner Strawbridge Studios.  They have designed a new package called "Journey" which is a multi-year product that a majority of students in grades 2nd through 5th will be receiving.  All other students will receive a Fun Designer Pack if they had pictures taken in the fall. This will make a perfect gift for the holidays.

This is also a fundraiser for the school, so please keep that in mind when placing your order.
Pricing information is enclosed with your packets. You will pay for the sheets you want and return anything you do not want.  We are asking that all money/pictures be returned by December 5th.

Thanks you for your support.

Headphones
Please check to see if your child has a working pair of headphones at school. They are imperative for some of the lessons that we are doing in class (in both, mine and Mrs. Drysdale) . Mrs. Drysdale and I have headphones that the students who do not have them can use, but that's not really sanitary. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Blue Impact Aid Forms

If you have not turned in the blue Impact Aid form that was sent home with your student, please do so Monday. Richland School District Two receives funds under theImpact Aid Program. To apply for funding through Impact Aid, our district must conduct a “true count” each year to identify the number of federally connected students. Federally connected students are children of active duty uniformed services personnel, children who live on federal property, and children whose parents work on federal property.

The ImpactAid Program funds become a part of Richland School District Two’s general operating budget and are critical to maintaining high standards for educational excellence. ImpactAid forms have been distributed in other schools as well this week, so you may have received a form for your other children as well. Please be sure to complete a separate survey form for each school-aged student in your household and return to your child’s school as soon as possible. The information provided on the Impact Aid Survey form is confidential. We appreciate your attention to this matter. As always we are thankful for your support.

Looking Ahead
Math
Module 3 is on multi-digit multiplication and division, so it is pertinent for them to know their basic multiplication facts. The timed multiplication tests will start on Monday. These will be graded. Please remember to refer to your child's red notebook and homework folder for examples of the strategies that we use in class. Alse, be sure to visit the following website. It will be helpful as well to visit this site. http://moodle.pleasanton.k12.ca.us/course/view.php?id=263#section-1 It has videos, newsletters, and sprints on it. Just find the module that you would like to review and then click the lesson.

ELA/Reading
Poetry presentation and poetry quiz is Monday. Allow them to find poetry about the solar system or the 13 colonies.

Social Studies
We will be working on Chapter, lessons 2,3,and 4. They will need to complete the vocabulary and answer the review questions for each lesson.

November News

Upcoming Week

Math

We are finishing up our unit on measurement. Tomorrow we will work on lesson 5 and they will bring the study guide home for the weekend. We will take our test on measurement Tuesday and begin Module 3. Module 3 is on multi-digit multiplication and division, so it is pertinent for them to know their basic multiplication facts. They will begin taking a timed multiplication test starting tomorrow.

ELA/Reading

The skills we will be tackling this week will deal with poetry. Skills such as rhyme scheme and types of poetry will be some of the main standards we will be focusing on this week.

Science

Students are currently working on the solar system . Please check back to see what activities we will incorporate into this unit. The students are working on a constellation research project in class.

Social Studies
Currently, we are working on Chapter 4. This is a continuation of explorers, but this chapter focuses on Spanish explorers.  Also, every lesson should have the vocabulary and lesson review questions completed in their social studies journal.  They will also have notes that we are taking in class as well as learning to take their own notes.  It is imperative for them to complete these assignments when given because it appears as if I have been assigning them altogether. That is not the case but I was trying to get everyone caught up. Notebook grades have been posted in Parent Portal. There were 6 sections graded, so if they have a 6 that means they had everything. They can still earn half credit back if they go back and complete the lessons they are missing.
